Juneau's original hangar, near this location was lost to a fire from a welding torch spark in 1939. Rebuilt in 1940, our current location inside Historic Merchants Wharf served as an aircraft hangar for many of the float plane operators that eventually merged to become Alaska Airlines.
Every day the planes would fly in and out of downtown Juneau, using the hangar for washing, fueling, and repairs. Pilings from the original float plane elevator can be viewed from the restaurant.
Our restaurant honors Southeast Alaska aviation history. We serve fresh and wild Alaskan seafood of all kinds, hand-cut steaks, hearty burgers, pasta, award-winning soups and salads, and of course, king crab! Our full-service bar has over 125 beers and 25 taps, with a fine selection of locally and regionally brewed Alaskan beers.
Thank you for helping us keep the historic tradition alive, as we celebrate our 27th anniversary year as The Hangar On The Wharf.
